Who we welcome

You are welcome here.

We welcome people across race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, relationship structure, faith, ability, and life experience. Therapy should not require you to make yourself smaller, simpler, or more conventional in order to be understood.

Our commitment

Respect begins with seeing the whole person.

Marriage & Family Therapy Associates welcomes Black, Indigenous, and other people of color; people of every gender identity and expression; lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, nonbinary, and questioning people; and people in heterosexual and cisgender relationships.

We also welcome people who are polyamorous or practice consensual or ethical non-monogamy, as well as those who are exploring their relationship structure. We do not assume that monogamy is the only healthy form of commitment, or that a relationship’s structure is itself the source of distress.

We understand that identity exists within families, communities, cultures, institutions, and histories. Those systems can be sources of belonging and resilience, and they can also carry exclusion, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or pressure to hide important parts of oneself. Therapy can make room for all of this without reducing you to a label.

Our intention is to meet you with humility, curiosity, and respect for your lived experience. We will not presume to know your experience better than you do. We will listen, remain open to correction, and work collaboratively to create a relationship in which difference can be spoken about honestly.

01

Identity-affirming

Your identities are not problems to solve. They are part of the full context in which your life and relationships have taken shape.

02

Relationship-inclusive

We approach monogamous, polyamorous, and consensually non-monogamous relationships without imposing one preferred structure.

03

Open and accountable

Cultural humility means listening carefully, recognizing limits, and being willing to repair when something is missed.
